Up Close and Personal Seiko Prospex SPB097J1 “Twilight Blue”

Happy Father’s Need a New Seiko Prospex!

Captain’s log: A week has passed and this is the only watch I have been wearing. God I love the Prospex, I will be acquiring more! CTWG

I recently picked up the Seiko Prospex SPB097J1 and it was, yeah a personal little treat to scratch a Seiko itch that I have had for some time. I have wanted a solid Seiko diver and regardless of your “Watch Status” this diver is extremely solid. In my opinion, one of the best thousand dollar price point values you can get. It’s all about the case, perfect construction, polish, and symmetry, blended with vibrant color dials. The movements are work horse Seiko in house caliber 6R15, boosting a 50 hour power reserve. The case comes in at 44mm, but wears much like a 42mm visually, the flare out on the side mid-case gives the extra measurement. You could mess with the original look with a Nylon strap or the like, but the bracelet is my choice by far to make it an authentic 200m diver from Japan. There are a ton of write ups on this piece and well deserved, I wanted to chime in on the Seiko front with a personal pick and wear, not a review, but a purchase reaction of sorts.

Final thoughts, if you are struggling with a gift idea or something for Father’s Day, look no further. A good Seiko diver belongs in every guy’s collection and will get ample wrist time. CTWG
